Based in Telford in Shropshire, I started stocking CSP and Period Pants from Crafty MrsB back in February 2021. I have had such wonderful feedback on the products, I thought it was time to find out a little bit more about the woman behind the business! “Tell me about yourself and your role at the company?” “Hi! My name is Amy, and I am the owner of Crafty MrsB. I am a Mum of 2, and live in Shropshire. Sewing has been a passion of mine since a very early age and is something I’ve always wanted to make a living from.” “How many people does the company employ?” “Just myself in my garden workshop, although I have been known to rope my husband in on the snap presses occasionally!” “What are your best sellers?” “LunaDrawers are definitely my most sought after product.” “What is your favourite product that you…

I love a good price comparison and this focus is no different! I’ve tried to keep things straight forward and simple as there are so many variations to these products. Take a look and let me know what you think! As always, I’ve only looked at the comparative prices on these products – not the environmental or personal benefits to making the switches. I totally get that sometimes eco alternatives cost more, and I understand that not everyone can afford to make those switches. I personally try to look at the overall picture and if one product costs more, I see if I can make a saving elsewhere! That’s why I love sharing these price comparisons with you, so that you don’t have to spend time figuring out where you should spend the money! If you’re not sure which switch to start with, just keep a note of what you’re…

I have recently started stocking 2 wonderful books from BumbleGreen Books – The Not So Green Queen and The Carbon Monster. The story books are aimed at teaching children the importance of being eco in a fun, friendly and engaging way. I wanted to find out more from author Katherine Wheatley….take a read of what she has to say about her books. “Tell me about yourself and your role at the company?” “Hello, my name is Katherine Wheatley and I’m an educator, author and illustrator of books and resources with special messages linked to the environment. I work with schools and offer workshops, resources and training and I’m also involved with the development of a project linked to Woodland Trails, which is being launched in June. In addition, I’m working with a colleague on a series of stories to support well-being in school as part of a PSHE programme for…

There are so many options when it comes to dental care and you have to choose what is right for you. But, if you can consider the environment whilst doing it, that would be even better. I’ve loads of amazing products in store right now and you can find out about them all right here. Toothbrushes – Did you know that roughly 3.5 BILLION toothbrushes are sold worldwide each year and that the average person uses 356 toothbrushes in their lifetime (from age 1-90, 4 a year). Imagine those toothbrushes piled high in landfill – never fully breaking down, just leaving trillions of micro plastics and chemicals seeping into our ground and water! Now….imagine that you, your friends and family all make a switch to a sustainable, degradable alternative, and that your friends, friends make the switch and so on. That 356 toothbrushes could soon end up being millions of…

Welcome to a brand new focus for June and what a treat I have in store for you! Who knew that oral hygiene products could be so diverse, so contaminating and so damaging? Luckily for you, I have spent a few weeks research, learning and compiling a whole new selection of information, facts and beautiful eco alternative products! Before we delve any deeper, I want to share with you some amazing facts on our mouths. Check these out. Crazy huh? There are so many other things to learn about our mouths, teeth and gums – it really makes you realise just how important it is to get the right dental routine using the best products you can. In non-eco dental products, there can be quite a few nasty chemicals. A lot of them are harmless to us BUT they may have been tested on animals or they could actually just…

I have been stocking (and using) wax wraps from Queen Bee Wraps since the very start of Eco Living Ideas in 2018, and I love them so much. It is great to chat with Bryden, the owner, and find out a little more about him and the company. If you want to shop for some of their gorgeous wraps, head to my dedicated wax wrap section. Tell me about yourself and your role at the company? “Queen Bee Wraps was founded in 2018 by myself and my wife Louise. The wraps are handmade, so we cut the fabric, put the ingredients together to make our special wax solution, paint the wax on the fabric, design and print the labels and pack everything ready for dispatch.” What is the businesses biggest achievement or impact to date? “With millions of metres of cling film thrown away every year damaging the planet we…

Join me as I interview Anna from UpCircle, who’s beautiful products I started stocking in January during my skincare focus. It is so great to learn more from Anna about the company, I hope you enjoy finding out more too. Tell me about yourself and your role at the company? “My name is Anna and I am the co-founder of UpCircle Beauty, which I launched alongside my brother William in 2016. In 2019 we launched our products into more than 2000 retail doors and expanded into America. Brand founders tend to wear a lot of hats, but I would loosely describe my role within the brand as “The Story-Teller”. I came from fairly corporate background, but was left feeling ultimately unfulfilled. I wanted to start a business with a purpose beyond profit and to create products I could be proud of. “ What did you do before you started working…

This week’s supplier spotlight is the wonderful Eco Snack Wrap. I have been working with Donna (the owner) since I first founded Eco Living Ideas in 2018 and have sold hundreds of her fabulous sandwich wraps, snack pockets, bread bags and bowl covers. It is time to learn more about Donna and her great company…here we go… Eco Snack Wrap, based in Norwich, was founded by Donna in 2010 whilst she was still working as an infant school teacher! Donna now works part time for a Children’s Charity and other than an assistant to help out for fairs and events, she runs the business single-handedly. Here are some other questions I asked Donna… What was the inspiration behind the business? “I discovered the products on an extended holiday in Australia where a friend had developed the Sandwich Wrap & Snack Pocket products. On my return I set up as UK…

As always I think it is really important to look at price comparisons for eco products as I still think there is a taboo around the idea that eco-friendly = more expensive. This really isn’t the case for most of the time. So here I am going to look at the comparison for different sanitary items. This is purely monetary comparison, not taking account the volumes of eco and health benefits. Product Price 1 year Price 5 years Menstrual Cup £18-25 £18-25 Cloth Pads/Liners(set of 20) £159 £159 Period Pants(6 pairs) £121 £121 Disposable Sanitary Towels/Liners (average use of 25 pads per cycle) £28.80 £144 Applicator Tampons £42 £210 So, absolutely not more expensive! And in fact if you go for a cup and period pants then you’ll save money, especially if you were to do a 10 year comparison as that is how long some cups last! *Prices based…
